Lifespan/Mortality Vampires are the only immortal race. They are created by being drained of nearly all their blood, and then being fed the sire vampire's blood. They're untouched by diseases, and extremely strong. However, they can get injured in combat. Any type of wood injures a Vampire, and if it's in their heart, they die for good. Beheading and fire is another way to kill vampires. Sunlight does not kill them, though it's uncomfortable and weakening if they stay in it too long. A vampire can be drained of all their own "dead" blood by a Dhampir, and turning a Dhampir to a full vampire can kill them, though it depends on the individual. Dhampir blood is strange to them; some like it, some don't. It can help the healing process if they are burned or have wood in their body.
Powers Vampires have superhuman strength, speed, and all around enhanced senses. Their canines lengthen into fangs that end in tips that touch their lower lips, sharp and deadly. Incredibly charming, beautiful, and seductive, they often climb social ladders easily. Vampires must have blood at least every two weeks, often more often if they want full power. If they don't have blood, they slowly weaken and lose control of their mind and powers.
Lifestyle Most vampires collect money over the years, so they're often wealthy and influential. Secretive and quiet, they usually either live alone or with a mate. Some choose to adopt a young vampire by bringing it into their home to show it the ropes. Most are loners, though. Ultimately, they're mostly loyal to their race, and are always at odds with Speakers. (Though once having tasted Speaker blood, a Vampire is addicted to it.) Vampires have the ability to make normal humans--non Speakers--forget a biting by blowing in their mouths. Some vampires keep one regular human for biting, though others are random about it. Sires and their sirelings will always be bonded to an extent, even if they hate each other.
Forbidden Clearly, Vampires cannot romance Speakers. They also mustn't harbor Dhampirs--who are even more dangerous to them than Speakers. The vampire/Dhampir relationship is odd. They are drawn to them, as they are to any creature with a strange scent, while they also are repelled by them. Some vampires do have romances with Speakers, though this must be hidden.
