Lifespan/Mortality The only way a Dhampir can be created is if they have a Speaker mother and a vampire father. Dhampirs are born and age like a human, but much more slowly. Their lifespans are longer, about one hundred and fifty years. A forty-year-old Dhampir would still look about twenty-something, and so on. Usually, their age starts slowing around their twenties. They do look their age as teens. They have no problem in the sun, and they don't need to drink human blood. Like vampires and Speakers, they're hardy and heal quickly--disease does not touch them. Small wounds do not bother them, but large ones take longer to heal than they would on a vampire. Fire and beheading kills them, but that would kill anyone. What Dhampirs have real problems with is anything ruby. (Legend has it that this is because of the blood color.) It's uncomfortable to the touch, and it's like wood is to the Vampires. If it pierces the heart, they're dead, and its wounds are horrible. A Dhampir CAN be turned into a full vampire like a human is... But it depends on the Dhampir. Most don't want it, as it can cause insanity. It also can kill both the vampire and the Dhampir; it depends on the individual.
Powers Dhampirs have enhanced speed and strength, stronger than a Speaker but not as strong as vampire. Their senses are enhanced like a Vampire's as well--eyesight, hearing, sense of smell, etc. They have hyper-intelligence, like Speakers. Though their canines do not lengthen like a vampire's, they are extremely sharp and can pierce skin easily. Dhampirs always possess one extra power. It can take after the Speaker mother's power, or it could be random. (Telekinesis, hypnosis... In your application, the power will have to be approved.) Dhampirs do have to sleep, but a lot less than normal humans.
Lifestyle Though their scent is not specifically identifiable by Speakers and vampires, Dhampirs must hide. Many are abandoned or put into the foster system by their mothers, as everyone is obligated to execute them and their traitorous parents. They usually hide as normal humans, though the rare few hide as Speakers. They're aware of the supernatural world. However, all Dhampirs crave vampire blood. Some even convince vampires to give blood to them, though it's completely forbidden. It strengthens them to their peak, but it becomes an addiction for them, like Speaker blood is addictive to vampires.
